Most of us didn’t set out in this life to find our home.  Home found us by virtue of our being born into one.   Then after the usual years of upbringing and education, we sprouted wings and flew to our own space to create a home of our own complete with kids, pets, bills and big-girl/big-boy responsibilities.  Ahhh … home.  It’s the place we hang our hats and all the other stuff of life.  We’ve made it especially cozy here at the Greens at Edinburgh, but as you well know, not everyone has it so good.

Home doesn’t necessarily come easily for all the creatures on the planet.  When it comes to stray animals, homeless kittens and puppies come into the world on their own virtually from day one.  It’s tough out there all alone and many don’t survive.  Tragically, those that are scooped up and taken to animal shelters are later snuffed out if someone doesn’t come along fast enough to adopt them.

Donate to your favorite No-Kill Shelter

There is good news! There are several no-kill shelters near Brooklyn Park that are not only committed to saving the lives of strays but also committed to creating that place called HOME for each one until the day a family adopts them.

Gentle Touch Animal Sanctuary is one such place! Gentle Touch is a no-kill animal shelter just 20 minutes south dedicated to the safety, well-being and happiness of the animals in their care.  Almost none of the animals are caged as a volunteer staff works to create a socially healthy environment that prepares an animal for adoption.  If an animal is not adoptable, Gentle Touch houses them as a permanent member of the Gentle Touch family for the remainder of their lives.  Safety, health and a place to call home is what Gentle Touch is all about for strays in our area!
