Animal Shelters Need YOUR Love

home: noun

1 : a unit formed by a family living together
2: congenial environment; also : the focus of one’s domestic attention as in, ‘home is where the heart is’

Most of us didn’t set out in this life to find our home.  Home found us by virtue of our being born into one.   Then after the usual years of upbringing and education, we sprouted wings and flew to our own space to create a home of our own complete with kids, pets, bills and big-girl/big-boy responsibilities.  Ahhh … home.  It’s the place we hang our hats and all the other stuff of life.  We’ve made it especially cozy here at the Greens at Edinburgh, but as you well know, not everyone has it so good.

Home doesn’t necessarily come easily for all the creatures on the planet.  When it comes to stray animals, homeless kittens and puppies come into the world on their own virtually from day one.  It’s tough out there all alone and many don’t survive.  Tragically, those that are scooped up and taken to animal shelters are later snuffed out if someone doesn’t come along fast enough to adopt them.

Donate to your favorite No-Kill Shelter

There is good news! There are several no-kill shelters near Brooklyn Park that are not only committed to saving the lives of strays but also committed to creating that place called HOME for each one until the day a family adopts them.

Gentle Touch Animal Sanctuary is one such place! Gentle Touch is a no-kill animal shelter just 20 minutes south dedicated to the safety, well-being and happiness of the animals in their care.  Almost none of the animals are caged as a volunteer staff works to create a socially healthy environment that prepares an animal for adoption.  If an animal is not adoptable, Gentle Touch houses them as a permanent member of the Gentle Touch family for the remainder of their lives.  Safety, health and a place to call home is what Gentle Touch is all about for strays in our area!

YOU can be a part! By adopting a pet, volunteering time or making a charitable donation, you’ll be helping to create a home for animals in need.  Donations – both large and small – are accepted from cars to cash.  Check out their list of needed household items HERE or consider becoming a VOLUNTEER.

You can make a difference to an animal in so many different ways! Contact the shelter today and lend a hand! Phone: 763-537-5599

15 Funny Pranks

I have a friend I have to watch out for on April Fool’s Day every year. She’s the master of practical jokes – the kind I fall for every time! Once she gave me a fake lottery ticket that said I’d won $1,000. It looked so real, I bought it hook-line and sinker! What a let down when I figured learned it was a fake!

I lean toward physical humor. Like using clear, undetectable tape to tape pencils to a table or the old Vaseline on the telephone receiver gag. Get’s ‘em every time!  I’ve stooped pretty low on occasion … employing tactics like fake vomit, dog poo and the like. Not creative, I know … but it’s pretty funny anyway.

Reader’s Digest outlines the 15 Funniest Pranks of all time in a recent issue with one dating back to the 1,400’s! Humor knows no time boundaries!

How about you? What’s the best prank you’ve ever pulled?
